American Brilliant Cut Glass Antique Vase Medium Rare Fine Quality Tiered Neck. A lthough the vase is of medium size, it is an excellent example of the best qualities of antique American Brilliant cut glass pieces special cut motifs from top to bottom. A ntique cut glass pieces such as this one if one is lucky to find any are mainly found in private collections or in a museum.

T his superlative cut glass vase was made from a heavy thick blank made brilliant clear lead crystal glass. A round the center of the vase are alternating fans and hobstars cut motifs both large and small. The special cut glass motifs are tiered horizontal panels of blocks of cuts run from the top of the center all the to the flared top rim. Unusual to say the least and superbly executed. The vase is completed with a large star burst motif on the bottom.

A s with the best American Brilliant antique cut glass pieces, every possible surface is cut into an art form, and this antique cut glass vase is a great example fine quality from the American Brilliant period. T he cutter who created the motifs on this superlative cut glass bowl, had long experience and was of master cutter caliber. F ortunately, a few pieces of this fine quality cut glass survive today as no company could afford to invest time and effort to recreate cut glass masterpieces such as this wonderful cut glass vase. A lthough not quite in perfect condition but very close, this cut glass vase is a superlative example of the Brilliant Period's best master cutters fine work.

This quality of cut glass craftsmanship and skill have not been seen for a 100 years. T he maker's mark remains undiscovered. T he cut glass vase is 5 inches high by nearly 6 inches wide.

Condition: T here is no significant damage to the vase - no chips or cracks to the glass. There maybe some few spots of tiny bruising on the motifs, but none that I could find. The flat surface of the bottom does show some wear marks. The inside of the vase is clean without residue. T he item number is: 1908x009.
