SIGNED AMERICAN BRILLIANT PERIOD TUTHILL "WOOD LILY" SWEET PEA VASE. The pattern is called "Wood Lily", most likely cut between 1910 and 1916 during the latter part of the American Brilliant Period. This pattern is identified in the book. The Rich Cut Glass of Charles Guernsey Tuthill.
It's a wonderful example of Tuthill's prowess at cutting realistic floral designs. The pattern on this elegant vase features deeply cut intaglio "wood lily" blooms and leaves, as well as the stems and tendrils.
The top rim has a unique wavy border. The vase stands about 5 1/4" tall and measures almost 8" wide at the top. The underside of the base has a polished pontil mark and remnants of Tuthill's acid etched script mark (very hard to see, pictured in last photo). This piece is guaranteed to be an original Tuthill vase.
It glows a pale green-yellow color under the black light. Condition of this Tuthill Wood Lily sweet pea vase is EXCELLENT. Two of the sharp points have very minor nicks. The glass is clear with no cloudiness or residue.
The underside of the base does show significant shelf wear, as you would expect on a piece of this age. Overall, this vase looks fantastic and displays beautifully. It would make a wonderful addition to any ABP cut glass collection. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself.
