The cut patterns on this cylinder Vase are striking. They are skillfully cut into a heavy glass of 19th Century Bavarian origin. The cuts are well organized and cover the whole of this rather monumental 16 tall vase. The walls are 3/8 thick, while the starred base is even thicker.
The diameter of the mouth opening is 4-3/8. The lip of the case has expertly made scalloped cuts. The glass has a bit of luminescence under black light (which weds the piece to the 19th to early 20th century). The vase is 7.5 pounds of glass. It is perfect for use as a floor vase, or for the presentation of long stemmed flowers or branches, including roses, gladiolas, or cherry tree branches. The decorating potential is endless.. This antique is in excellent condition and has full integrity. The exception is the rather thick bottom which has the (pic) notes glass loss around the edges. This, however, exists without affecting the integrity of the vessel. The glass cutter did not mark the item with an identifying mark.
