Tim Lazer Art Glass Vase Tall Cut Vase 1996

  

Hand blown glass, signed and dated 1996. Measures approximately: 17" H (tallest point) x 9 1/2" overall diameter x 3 1/2" x 5" rim opening x 3 1/2 base diameter. Tim Lazer approaches his art with a combined love for the medium, a gifted technique, and the knowledge that the fugitive nature of hot glass will forever present a challenge. His philosophy about the nature of his art is forever changing, and his work often takes new forms. Tim's love for glass began nearly thirty years ago at Palomar Junior college in San Diego County under the influence of Val Saunders.

After Palomar, Tim studied further at Cal State Fullerton. It was here that he often spent 60 hour weeks perfecting his craft. He experimented with fusing metals and off-hand glass blowing. He also worked with, iridescent, opalescant, apaque and transparent glass.

His studies at the Corning Museum Glass Center with Italian master Lino Tagliapierta had a great influence on his work. Tim, with more than 20 years of experience, uses layers of glass, glass powders and precious metals which are fused onto the glass surface to achieve a lustrous, iridescent, opalescent, opaque or transparent piece.
