Mandruzzato Sommerso Faceted Heavy Cut Art Glass Amber & Clear Vase Vintage MCM Italy. This listing is for a beautiful late 20th century vintage Murano sommerso effect glass vase. This blown and molded glass vase was made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy probably in the 1970's or 1980's.
The piece is not signed but is similar to the designs of Alessandro Mandruzzato and Flavio Poli and showcases the skill and craftsmanship of the glass makers of Murano. The vase is a well-executed and thick walled faceted Sommerso hand-blown glass vase. This stunning art glass vase with it's faceted tapering body was made using the Sommerso (submerged) technique, and has a core of amber yellow glass submerged in clear glass to give it the visual effect of an elongated teardrop. The vase has a nice weight to it and weighs 7 pounds and 12 ounces. It measures approximately 4-5/8 inches by 4-1/2 inches at the top and stands 10 inches tall.The vase is in excellent vintage condition with respect to age and use. It has no cracks or chips and all of the edges are clean.
There are some very minor surface scratches and shelf wear on the bottom. There are a couple of tiny bubbles inside of the glass which indicates it was mouth blown. This is really a stunning and heavy piece of vintage Murano art glass! There are some bubbles in the glass which reflects its handmade craftsmanship.
